Nominate your staff for the Fall 2025 Speak-UP! Award The WPSC Speak-Up! Award is taking nominations for the Fall award. The nomination deadline is January 31, 2026
It is a statewide recognition program that celebrates the efforts of individuals and teams at Washington healthcare organizations who demonstrate a commitment to keeping patients and staff safe by speaking up and voicing their concerns to promote health care safety. This is a great way to recognize staff and Washington healthcare organizations for the fantastic work they are doing. It is open to clinical and non-clinical employees/team members from all Washington healthcare organizations, such as hospitals, pharmacies, long term care (e.g., skilled nursing facilities & assisted living facilities), clinics and physician offices to name some examples.
For more information go to the Speak-Up! Award website or contact Steve Levy, Executive Director, WPSC at slevy@qualityhealth.org.

Congratulations to the Spring 2025 Speak-Up! Award Winners and Finalists
We owe an apology to our Speak-Up! Award Winners and Finalists from the May 31st award period. Awards were announced in September, and we mistakenly overlooked it in the Friday 5. Congratulations go out to a very diverse group. Below you will see registered nurses, a physician, a certified nursing assistant and facilities management personnel. These hospitals have cultures where patient safety IS everyone’s job!
Award Recipients Annie Pham, RN and Nicole Spencer, RN at Harborview Medical Center. Annie and Nicole identified that a patient was not appropriately monitored due to discontinued lab orders. This good catch resulted in better integration of lab and infusion orders across all UW Medicine hospitals. The other finalists are: - Awet Negash, RN, Kindred Hospital Seattle, Empowered by ScionHealth
-
Katra Noor, CNA, Kindred Hospital Seattle, Empowered by ScionHealth
- Kailey Bolles, MD, Harborview Medical Center
- Rebecca Beal, RN, MultiCare HealthCare System, Capital Medical Center
-
Clifton Jones, Facilities Management Department, MultiCare Healthcare System, Tacoma General Hospital
- Jens Moren, Facilities Management Department, MultiCare Healthcare System, Tacoma General Hospital
