As we celebrate the recent victory of the Seattle Seahawks, we are reminded of what teamwork, preparation, and shared commitment can accomplish. February also brings Valentine’s Day—a time to recognize compassion, appreciation, and the power of connection. These themes resonate strongly with our patient safety efforts. With our upcoming award application launch, we look forward to celebrating the achievements that reflect our collective commitment to innovative approaches to reducing health disparities and advancing health equity through thoughtful policy development and procedural reform. As Patient Safety Week approaches in March, we are excited to highlight the important work happening across our community. Be sure to check out BREE webinars and community events to stay engaged and connected.

Patient Safety Awareness Week March 8-14, 2026

Patient Safety Awareness Week, March 8-14, 2026, is intended to encourage everyone to learn more about healthcare safety.

The theme for Patient Safety Awareness Week in 2026 is "Team Up for Patient Safety." This theme emphasizes the importance of collaboration among healthcare teams, patients, and their families to enhance safety in care delivery. It aims to foster a culture of teamwork and communication, which is essential for effective patient safety initiatives.

The campaign encourages organizations to adapt activities to their own culture, patient populations, and care settings. Whether in hospitals, EMS agencies, long term care, clinics, or other environments, all processes should keep the focus on collaboration, open communication, and learning.

Organizations are encouraged to participate by recognizing their contributions to patient safety and planning activities that promote awareness. The Center for Patient Safety provides toolkits and resources to help organizations celebrate this week effectively. These resources include posters, banners, and educational materials to engage staff and the community in patient safety discussions.
